Most women are familiar with the phrase “breast is best” in regards to infant feeding, but here are 3 lesser known benefits to breastfeeding you might not have heard about:
- Women in a recent study who breastfed for 13 months or more were shown to have half the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.
- Breastfeeding reduces both pre- and post-menopausal breast cancer risk, and might reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
- Breastfeeding may also reduce your baby’s risk of developing cancer later in life, by helping them maintain a healthy weight.
