An Asymmetrical Lifestyle
Once again, we (meaning Rob and I) spent almost all of Saturday hard at work. There were new websites to build, ads to optimize and accounts to configure. I had an order of homecoming announcements to ship for NICU 101, forum members to authorize and a blog to write that I’ve been neglecting. In the middle of all that, Rob and David had their third radio show, so Rob set off to the Clear Channel building shortly before dinner time. It sounds like a lot of “work” for a Saturday, but there was also some nap time in the middle, and drawing pictures with the kids.
How many people out there get to take a nap in the middle of their workday? Well, probably more than we’d hope, but I doubt most of them are supposed to be napping . . .
Having two parents who own their own businesses, means that our older daughter has no clue what the weekend is. On one hand, that might seem bad, because we work nearly every day. But from our side of the aisle, it’s very good, because we rarely need a babysitter, we eat almost every meal sitting down at the table with our kids, and they never have to be woken up at 6am to be shuttled off to daycare. Every day is a mix of work and play, and we all do it together. The girls are involved, and are learning to be self sufficient. Riley even wants her very own Hello Kitty themed blog . . . How many 4 year-olds have one of those?

Loved this post. How many parents can actually sit with their children at every mealtime? In my home, we do take naps on weekends. Helps recharge the kid and most especially the war-torned adults.
BTW, I am including this in the carnival of family life next week (I am hosting).
