Fight for Preemies: Bloggers Unite

November is fast approaching (crazy, right??), and I  wanted to remind everyone that November is Prematurity Awareness Month. 1 in 8 babies in the United States are born premature, a fate that puts them at risk for lifelong physical and developmental complications. On top of this, prematurity is the number one cause of death in newborns.  In honor of this important month, the March of Dimes is holding a blogger action day through Bloggers Unite on November 17th.

As many of you know, I started blogging after my own daughter was born 9 weeks early and spent 46 days in the NICU. The experience was both terrifying and isolating, and I felt inspired to share our experiences to help families and healthcare providers understand more about the NICU experience.

You probably know a baby that was born too soon. Take some time to honor them, and the research funded by the March of Dimes that has made the survival of so many preemies possible by participating in the Fight for Preemies.  Grab a badge from the Bloggers Unite site and post it on your blog for the moth of November.  Then take some time on November 17th to write blog about prematurity.
