Newborns, premature or not, are typically placed in a radiant warmer after birth, while physicians and nurses examine the baby and attend to any immediate medical needs. The Panda Warmer, just introduced by GE, eliminates the overhead heat element, allowing easier access to the baby for caregivers and family. It also features a hands free system for silencing alarms, an integrated pulse ox monitoring system and aimable lights that allow particular body areas to be illuminated without shining light into a preemie’s sensitive eyes.
