Mother Helps Parents Create Remembrances of Their Angels
Monday, December 31, 2007 9:55Cheryl Haggard cofounded Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) with photographer Sandy Puc’ after Cheryl’s own son Maddux passed away from myotubular myopathy when he was only 6 days old. Knowing that he wouldn’t be with them for long, his parents contacted Sandy and had her take photos of them with Maddux before and after they removed him from life support.
NILMDTS is an organization of over 3,000 volunteers that helps parents create beautiful photo remembrances of their babies who are stillborn or pass away soon after birth. Their photographers will conduct a sensitive and private photo session, free of charge to parents experiencing early infant loss, including parents of preemies and stillborns. These photos are then retouched, and given to parents on a CD or DVD, along with a copyright release.
