On This Day . . .
Thursday, December 17, 2009 22:16Over the past seven years, December has been an eventful month for us, and I don’t just mean the regular holiday type eventfulness. So far, we’ve managed to have two unexpected December babies (one 4 weeks early and the other 9). As a result, I’ve spent more of December in the hospital than I’d care to repeat. When we weren’t busy having babies, we also managed to be snowed in two different years. On a happy note, last year our son took his first steps in December while we decorated our Christmas tree.
This year, as we prepare to celebrate our girls’ birthdays, I once again find myself pregnant in December. While considering the bedrest ordeal we went through a couple of months ago, I should be thanking my lucky stars that I’m sitting here, all huge and uncomfortable. Instead, my mind keeps drifting to memories of our younger daughter in the NICU, and I can’t help but worry.
Thankfully (I guess) there isn’t too much time available to spend worrying during December. With two birthdays and Christmas all in the same week, plus baking and candy making, gift making and wrapping and fun holiday parties and outings, we’re all keeping ourselves busy.
This time next year, there will be another little one in the house wreaking his own personal brand of chaos. If the next year comes together as we hope, we might just be getting ready to send Rob off to Washington on top of everything else . . .
I do have a few posts planned for the rest of the year, but please bear with me if I disappear again. Getting bigger also means that I’m starting to get more and more tired, and my night owl ways are starting to change. The whole thing is seriously cutting in to my work hours. I do promise that you’ll all hear about it when our little guy arrives ![]()
