Yesterday, many parents of preemies were saddened to receive the news that Preemie Magazine, the only print magazine dealing with the special issues affecting preemies and their families, was closing its doors. In the wake of canceling its first ever conference, PreemieCon, Preemie Magazine announced that it was unable to secure the necessary investors to pay it’s current debts and future obligations.

Since the announcement, parents have been stepping forward, offering to pay subscription fees to keep the magazine afloat. Unfortunately, this doesn’t address the issue of all the potential debts that the company needs to settle, including refunding the conference fees they collected from parents and caregivers.

So, that leaves us with the question of where do we go from here. For our part, NICU 101 will begin publishing a monthly online newsletter in November. Anyone who is interested can use this subscription form to sign up now. In the meantime, we’d also love to hear from other parents of preemies and NICU babies about what features they’d like to see over at NICU 101, and in our upcoming newsletter. Anyone interested in contributing to the newsletter can also contact us with article ideas.
