The Preemie Experiment Discusses Ethics and Prematurity
Thursday, March 27, 2008 22:24I know I’ve mentioned Stacy’s blog, The Preemie Experiment before, but I’d really like to encourage all of you to head over once again, and check out her new series on ethics as it relates to prematurity. The first article in the series, Insular, was posted today. It was written by Chris, the adoptive mother of a former 25 week preemie who has multiple lifelong complications due to his prematurity.
The topic of Chris’ post is whether our healthcare resources (and dollars) are being appropriately spent keeping extremely premature babies alive, or whether there are other things the money could be spent which would have more benefit for the greater good. The discussion in the comments section is insightful, and interesting, and so far, well mannered.
I’d love to know what you think, either here, in my comments section, or over at Stacy’s blog!
